Fr. Steven Brown grew up in San Francisco, attending grammar school at Church of the Epiphany. He attended St. Joseph Seminary for high school then went on to St. Patrick College in Los Altos. Starting in 1973, he spent four years studying in Rome at the Pontifical North American College; for three years he studied at the Pontifical University of Saint Thomas Aquinas (also known as the Angelicum run by the Dominicans) and one year at the Pontifical Gregorian University (run by the Jesuits). He was ordained a priest in 1977.
Fr. Andrey Garcia

Father Andre Garcia was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. He has five sisters and six brothers and is the youngest of this big family. He came to the US when he was about 16 and finished high school in Mount Hood, Oregon. When he was about 20, he settled in Haywood, where he worked at a warehouse and participated in a youth/young adult group at Saint Clements Parish. There he found a mentor, Fr.John, who encouraged him to continue developing his faith.

Raul Mendoza was born in Huejotitan, Jalisco, close to Guadalajara Mexico and came to San Jose California around the age of 20 it is. He is one of nine children most of them living in this area. Raul and his wife Virginia have three children, Juan Pablo, Claire, Joshua Daniel and five grandchildren. He worked at Sacred Heart Parish as a volunteer and then a staff for over 22 years mostly doing the liturgical music ministry. After two and a half years at Santa Clara University Raul earned a masters in sacred liturgy. .

Sr. Michele Anne Murphy

Born in San Francisco, Sr. Michele Anne spent much of her childhood traveling as her father was in the service. She lived on the East Coast for a while and spent several years in France. The family returned to the Bay Area when her father got ill. She has two brothers and a sister who also live in the Bay Area. Michele Anne spent the last two years of high school at Presentation High School in San Francisco and entered the Sisters of Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary right after high school. She attended both the University of San Francisco and Santa Clara University.

Kathleen Mary Cook was born and raised in San Jose. She started school at St. Joseph Parish, downtown then transferred to St. Martin of Tours for 2nd to 8th grade. For high school she attended Mother Butler Memorial. After starting at West Valley College, Ms. Cook earned a BA and Teaching Credential from San Jose State University. She did her student teaching in Pueblo, New Mexico. Returning to Santa Clara County, she taught for seven years in Oak Grove School District before joining St. John Vianney School in 1978.

A Sister of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary for 55 years, Sr. Sally moved into St. John Vianney Parish in 2013. In 2014, she joined our parish staff on a part-time basis. Born and raised in Oakland, California, Sr. Sally attended Our Lady of Lourdes Grammar School and Holy Names High School before attending Holy Names University in Oakland, earning a BA and Teaching Credential. Later, she earned a Masters Degree in Adult Christian Community Development from Regis University in Denver, Colorado.

Patricia works in the Parish Office Center most mornings, greeting visitors, answering phone calls and providing information to all who come seeking help.
Born in Guadalajara, Mexico, Patricia arrived in the Los Angeles area in the 1990s then moved to San Jose in 2008, joining St. John Vianney Parish at that time. Her youngest child was baptized here and all her children received their sacraments in our parish. She has two daughters and a step-daughter.
Patricia is a well-known member of our local community as she volunteered for several years with Alum Rock Union School District, serving as a Workshop Facilitator assisting the Spanish language liaison for the district.
Patricia has another job in a commercial office, which allows her to be flexible with her time. She loves being helpful.
Mary Jane Araya

Mary Jane Araya grew up here on the Eastside of San Jose, living near Overfelt High School, in Most Holy Trinity Parish. She has two children, a daughter at San Jose State and a son at De Anza College. Starting in 1991, Mary Jane served as a volunteer catechist at Most Holy Trinity Parish. She spent fourteen years on the staff of that parish, first as a secretary and then eight years as the Office Manager. Mary Jane has been married to her wonderful husband, Lou, for 22+ years.
Like Patricia and Maria, Mary Jane greets people who come to the Parish Office Center looking for help or information. Since she has lots of experience with the Diocesan database, she also manages that connection for the parish.

SJV Community Center Event Coordinator
Cindy Perea grew up in St. John Vianney Parish. She attended CCD here and received all of her sacraments including marriage at St. John Vianney parish. She has three kids; a girl and two boys.
Cindy was always around the Parish but she got involved in community ministry when Bonnie Ehle was here. She’s especially involved in the Mother’s Day layette program and the Advent Day of Giving. Cindy has worked on our parish fiesta since she was in high school.
When Father Francisco was here he asked her and some other ladies to host a hospitality table as we were raising money for the new St. John Vianney Community Center. She continued to work at supporting the new Community Center eventually becoming the Event Coordinator in 2013.
As event coordinator, Cindy helps set up open up and close down the Community Center whenever there is an event happening there including regular basketball games and special events for the Parish or for rental.
Jose was born in and grew up in San Jose. Prior to joining St. John Vianney Parish in 2011 he worked in the Construction Industry starting in 1985. Jose left construction in 2010 when his dad passed away. Now he takes care of the entire parish property, except for the school, which has its own maintenance person. Jose is responsible for the Church building, the Main Hall, the Pavillion the Community Center, the Rectory and the Parish Office Center and loves his work here.
