Hispanic Community
From the very beginning of the parish, St. John Vianney has been a bilingual community. We are blessed to have a very active Hispanic Committee that is comprised of “…a group of committed Catholics who wish to make alive the mission of the church in the Hispanic community of our parish, considering all their needs, and wish to support the pastor, working and keeping alive, and active, cultural and social liturgical celebrations.” As part of this mission statement, the Hispanic Committee works to maintain and keep traditions and culture alive and vibrant through coordinating masses (Saturday evening at 7:00 PM and Sunday at Noon) and by being involved in parish activities including those centered around the church’s important celebrations such as the Stations of the Cross, the Passion and Resurrection of our Lord, the Christmas Posadas, and Our Lady of Guadalupe. For large, parish-wide events, the Hispanic Committee is always there to contribute and enrich the celebration. The Hispanic Committee consists of a Board (President, Treasurer, Secretary), the priest or church staff member who ministers to the Hispanic Community, and coordinators for each ministry involved in the Spanish masses. They are open and welcoming to new members all the time and are always looking for new ideas. They are especially interested in engaging young people. The biggest challenge that they face is the participation of parishioners. If you are interested in becoming a member, or if you would like to find out more about this parish group, they meet the 2nd Thursday of every month in the Salón Guadalupe at the Parish Office. SJV has a vibrant Filippino Community. Among other things, they host a Simbang Gabi novena each December. Other celebrations include Santo Nino in January and Our Lady of Antipolo in May. They are also very active in the parish Fiesta and other fundraisers for the church.Movimiento Familiar Catolico Christiano
