Religious Education

Catechesis, knowing and living our faith, is more than just religious education, but rather, is a life-long journey of conversion. St. John Vianney’s goal is to bring children to Christ, to prepare them for the sacramental life of the church, and to help them understand the social justice implications of discipleship and mercy, as we integrate prayer into their lives.

“Let the little children come to me….”

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”

General Information:

Classes meet on Thursdays from 6:30 to 8:00 PM

A copy of the child’s Baptism/Birth certificate is required at the time of registration.

The Sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Eucharist Registration is open all year long.

Registration Form for English Faith Formation is available at on the Forms page.

Please bring completed form plus Birth Certificate/Sacramental Certificates to Parish Office. There is a form online to request a Baptismal Certificate, if your child was baptized at St. John Vianney Parish.

One year of religious education formation is required before your child can be included in the sacrament preparation process. Preparing for First Eucharist is a very special time for your child.  Our sacramental preparation is considered to be a “family program” and is designed to take place “in the midst of the community of the faithful.”

First Reconciliation/First Eucharist (2nd grade and up): See Sacramental Preparation

Baptism Preparation: See Sacramental Preparation

It is the job and the joy of St. John Vianney Parish to prepare and initiate its children into the Eucharistic life of the Church through our weekly celebration of the Mass. For this reason it is vital that the children and their families participate at Mass on a weekly basis.
