Art & Environment Committee
Art & Environment Committee prepares our worship space for each season of the Liturgical Year and keep the environment in the church in good shape. They manage flowers and other decor making the worship space inviting and prayerful.
Mass Coordinator / Sacristan
Each weekend liturgy needs a coordinator/sacristan who makes sure everything and everyone is ready for the community celebration. The coordinator also takes care of tidying up after the celebration.
Liturgy of the Word for Children
Leaders offer children an age appropriate lesson based on the readings for the day. They leave at the start of the Liturgy of the Word and return in time for the Eucharistic Prayer. English is at 10:30 A.M. Mass; Spanish is at 12:00 P.M. Mass.
Ushers & Greeters
Ushers are the wonderful folks who help you find a seat in church and who arrange for the collection to be taken at each Mass. Greeters meet folks as they are arriving and some stick around to hand out bulletins at the end of liturgies. Any of these welcoming folks can answer questions or find answers for most questions that might arise.
Altar Servers assist the presider at Mass by setting the table, lighting candles, carrying the cross, candles, holding books, etc. This ministry is open to boys and girls in Grade 5 or older. Training is provided and servers are assigned a schedule. In addition to weekend and weekday Masses, there are occasionally extra times, for weddings, funerals, or baptisms.
Eucharistic Ministers serve by distributing the Body and Blood of Christ at parish liturgies. They also bring Holy Communion to the home-bound. Eucharistic Ministers must have received the sacrament of Confirmation. Training is provided several times during the year.
For more information, contact Diana Wilkerson by Email Carol Sheppard 408-251-3306.
Lectors & Commentators
Lectors proclaim the Word of God for the Assembly, making the Word come alive through prayerful proclamation while the Commentator welcomes the assembly, leads the Prayer of the Faithful and reads the closing announcements. Lectors must have received the sacrament of Confirmation. Training is required.
St. John Vianney Parish has a number of music groups that serve the various Masses for weekends and special occasions. For information about a specific choir, contact our Music Ministry Coordinators: Raul Mendoza (Spanish) 408-258-7832 or Gina Adams (English) 408-270-7109.
